Find answers to common questions about our electrical services in London and surrounding areas

We provide a comprehensive range of electrical services for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Our work includes installation of new electrical systems, complete rewiring of older buildings, consumer unit upgrades to meet current regulations, and installation of lighting fixtures both indoors and outdoors.

We also handle socket and switch installations, fault finding and repairs, periodic inspection and testing (EICR), EV charger installation, and emergency call-outs. All our electricians hold valid certifications and stay updated with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations to ensure compliance and safety.

Yes, all our electricians are fully qualified with City & Guilds Level 3 qualifications as a minimum. They are registered with NICEIC or NAPIT, which are government-approved schemes that verify competence in electrical installation work. This registration allows us to self-certify our work and issue the necessary certificates for Building Control compliance.

We carry comprehensive public liability insurance up to £5 million, protecting both our team and your property. Each job comes with the appropriate certification, including Minor Works Certificates or Electrical Installation Certificates as required by law. We can provide proof of qualifications and insurance upon request.

For genuine electrical emergencies such as complete power loss, burning smells, sparking outlets, or exposed live wires, we aim to have an electrician at your property within 60-90 minutes during our operating hours. We prioritise safety-critical situations and will advise you on immediate safety measures to take while our technician is en route.

Our emergency service operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00, and Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00. For non-emergency issues like a single socket not working or a tripped circuit that can be safely reset, we typically schedule appointments within 24-48 hours. We always provide honest advice about whether your situation requires immediate attention.

We offer free, no-obligation quotes for all planned electrical work. For straightforward jobs, we can often provide an accurate estimate over the phone based on your description. For more complex projects like full rewiring or commercial installations, we prefer to visit your property to assess the work properly and provide a detailed written quotation.

Our quotes include a breakdown of labour costs, materials required with specific product details, any necessary certification fees, and estimated completion time. We specify which materials are included in the price and highlight any potential additional costs that might arise. Once you accept a quote, the price remains fixed unless you request changes to the scope of work.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a thorough inspection and testing of your property's electrical system. It identifies any damage, deterioration, defects, or dangerous conditions that could pose a risk. The inspection covers the consumer unit, wiring, earthing arrangements, and fixed electrical equipment.

Landlords in England must have a valid EICR conducted every five years or at each change of tenancy, whichever is sooner. Homeowners are advised to have one every ten years, or before purchasing a property. Commercial properties typically require testing every three to five years depending on the nature of the business. The report classifies any issues found as C1 (danger present), C2 (potentially dangerous), or C3 (improvement recommended).

A complete rewire of a standard three-bedroom house typically takes between 5-10 working days, depending on the property's size and condition. This includes first fix (installing cables and back boxes), plastering time if required, and second fix (fitting sockets, switches, and light fittings). The work involves lifting floorboards, channelling walls, and installing a new consumer unit.

Larger properties or those with difficult access may take longer. We can work room by room to minimise disruption, allowing you to continue living in parts of the house during the work. The final stage includes testing the entire installation and providing you with an Electrical Installation Certificate. We coordinate with any plasterers or decorators you employ to ensure smooth progression.

Yes, we install both tethered and untethered EV charging points for domestic properties. The installation includes assessing your existing electrical system to ensure it can handle the additional load, fitting a dedicated circuit from your consumer unit, mounting the charging unit on an external wall or post, and configuring the charger to your requirements.

Most installations use a 7kW charger, which fully charges a typical electric vehicle overnight. We can advise on the best location for your charger considering cable routing, parking position, and weather protection. The installation typically takes 3-4 hours and includes all necessary certification. Some grants may be available through the OZEV scheme for eligible properties, which we can help you navigate.

A circuit breaker that trips repeatedly indicates a problem that needs investigation. First, unplug all appliances on that circuit and try resetting the breaker. If it holds, plug appliances back in one at a time to identify any faulty equipment. If the breaker trips immediately even with nothing plugged in, there is likely a fault in the wiring that requires professional attention.

Common causes include overloaded circuits from too many appliances, faulty appliances with internal shorts, damaged cable insulation, or moisture ingress. Never ignore a tripping breaker or replace it with a higher-rated one, as this removes an important safety feature. Contact us for a proper diagnosis using specialist testing equipment. We can identify the exact fault location and recommend whether repair or circuit upgrade is needed.

All our electrical installation work comes with a 12-month workmanship guarantee covering any defects arising from our installation. This is in addition to any manufacturer warranties on the products we supply. If any issue occurs due to our workmanship during this period, we will return and rectify it at no additional cost.

For products we supply and fit, such as consumer units, lighting fixtures, or EV chargers, we pass on the manufacturer's warranty which typically ranges from 1-5 years depending on the product. We keep detailed records of all work completed, including materials used and test results, which helps with any warranty claims. Our NICEIC registration also provides additional protection through their complaints procedure and guarantee of standards.

Our main service area covers South West London and surrounding boroughs. We regularly work in Wandsworth, Merton, Lambeth, Richmond, Kingston, Sutton, and Croydon. From our base in Tooting, we can reach most of South London within 30-45 minutes, allowing us to provide prompt service and competitive pricing without excessive travel charges.

For larger commercial projects or significant residential work, we are willing to travel further across Greater London and into parts of Surrey. We assess each enquiry individually and will always be transparent about any additional travel costs for areas outside our standard coverage zone. Contact us with your postcode and we can confirm whether we cover your area and provide an accurate quote.

We accept payment by bank transfer, debit card, credit card, and cash. For smaller jobs completed in a single visit, payment is due upon completion of the work and after you have received the appropriate electrical certificate. We provide a detailed invoice showing the work completed and materials used.

For larger projects such as rewiring or commercial installations, we typically request a 30% deposit to secure materials and schedule the work, with the balance due upon completion. We never request full payment upfront. All our invoices include our company registration details and VAT number. Payment terms are clearly stated on your quotation and invoice, with payment typically expected within 7 days of invoice date for commercial clients.

About Davaku

Delivering reliable electrical solutions across London since 2008

Our Story

Davaku was established in 2008 by a group of certified electricians who recognized the need for dependable electrical services in London. Starting with a small team of three specialists, we focused on residential installations and repairs in the SW17 area. Our commitment to arriving on time, completing work to British Standards, and maintaining transparent pricing helped us build a solid reputation among local homeowners and businesses.

Over the years, we expanded our capabilities to include commercial projects, emergency callouts, and specialized installations. Today, our team consists of 18 qualified electricians, each holding current City & Guilds certifications and registered with NICEIC. We handle everything from replacing a single socket to rewiring entire office buildings, maintaining the same attention to detail that defined our early days.

What Drives Us

Our approach centers on practical solutions rather than unnecessary upgrades. When you contact us, we assess your actual requirements, explain the work needed in plain language, and provide a fixed quote before starting. No hidden charges appear on the final invoice. We stock common components on our vans, which means most jobs get completed in a single visit without delays waiting for parts.

Safety compliance guides every installation we perform. All work meets current BS 7671 wiring regulations, and we issue proper certification for each project. Our electricians arrive with identification, wear protective shoe covers indoors, and clean up thoroughly after completing work. These practices aren't marketing claims - they're documented in our 847 completed projects from the past year alone, with inspection records available for review.
